Steve Rhoades is the next-door neighbor of Al and Peggy Bundy. His wife is Marcie. Steve works at a local Chicago bank. Steve is constantly at odds with the Bundy family and also finds himself constantly lectured and bossed around by his own wife - as well as Al. He tries to make the perfect and most problem-free life for himself, but when you live next door to Al Bundy, your life will never be problem-free. It is unknown if Steve has any siblings, but he does make many references to his mother, indicating he was an extreme mamma's boy, or his father was completely out of the picture. While he attempts to rise above the Bundy's in income, lifestyle, and character, he is somewhat snobbish and displays a lot of greed. While he dotes on his wife and appreciates her (at least at first), he still has a wandering eye. Ironically, he befriends Al and begins to sink to his level, often getting caught up in his shenanigans. Steve left Marcy shortly after getting fired for a bad loan he made to Al. Initially, he wanted to be a Park Ranger, but decided he liked money more. He started out as a chauffeur, and eventually became the Dean at Tremaine University. He often spars with Marcy, especially late in the series.
