Uncle Scott Gordon is a civilian traveling with the 2nd Massachusetts Militia Regiment. He is married to Aunt Kate and is Anne Glass' uncle. He's a jack-of-all-trades who helps out as an engineer and mechanic. His tinkering with a radio leads to an important discovery about how the aliens communicate. He also becomes the group's teacher for the children.
