In Marvel Comics Simpson originated in the Dare Devil series as Frank Simpson A.K.A Nuke , which Traval stating the character's origin was reinvented for the series. A war veteran who became a police sergeant, Kilgrave ordered him to kill Trish Walker. Once he was free of Kilgrave's control he returned, reconciled with Trish and they became lovers. However, he and Jessica Jones remain at odds with each other and their perspective on how to deal with Kilgrave.
