Twenty-something Adam Sackler (Adam Driver) lives in New York City and dates Hannah. Actually it can't really be called dating. They hook up when Adam decides to answer Hannah's texts. Adam is an actor/writer/woodworker who lives off a small subsidy he gets from his grandmother. He's a big fan of dirty talk and even dirtier sex. Selfish and self-absorbed, Adam doesn't respect Hannah or treat her well at all. His behavior is appalling and he is rather emotionally abusive. On the outside, Adam is a real loser, yet somehow he is extremely confident and sure of himself. His confidence may be masking an inner-pain and turmoil. He is often shirtless.
