Ray Ploshansky (Alex Karpovsky) is Charlie's best friend. He is a manager of a coffee shop. He is extremely protective of Charlie and has a great time making fun of everyone, especially Marnie and Hannah and their white-people problems. He is angry and challenging but beneath his brash exterior, he is very insecure. He has no patience for people he views as phony. He and Charlie perform in a band called Questionable Goods.
