Angela is the wife of Jimmy Darmody and the mother of Tommy. She is an artist and met Jimmy while they were both attending Princeton. After Jimmy headed off to war, she stayed behind, gave birth to their son and began raising him. More of a creative type, Angela is not content in the role of a housewife and -- perhaps feeling neglected by Jimmy, who is shaken after returning from war -- begins to experiment with her sexuality.Angela has an uneasy relationship with Gillian, Jimmy's mother, sensing an oddness in the way Gillian dotes on her son and grandson and feeling as if Gillian sees her as an inferior caretaker to them both.Angela doesn't ask many questions when it comes to Jimmy's work for Nucky Thompson, but she soon becomes embroiled in Jimmy's personal work.
