Father Kellan Ashby is a counselor for the True IRA in Belfast and affiliated with SAMBEL through his sister is Maureen Ashby, who was married to its former leader Keith McGee. Ashby's niece is Maureen's daughter trinity. His cousin is Cameron Hayes, who conducts the True IRA's gun-running deals with the Sons in the US. Father Ashby is religious in clothing only, and does not see his church as sacred ground. He has no problem using innocent people as pawns to settle scores, although he stays on the sidelines of any actual violence, merely giving his blessing. Jimmy O'Phelan proves to be a thorn in his side.
