Mike Flaherty is a New Jersey attorney who is struggling to make ends meet. The court appoints him to represent Leo Poplar, an elderly man who is becoming senile. Leo is declared incapacitated by the court and Mike is appointed as his guardian. He sees this as an opportunity to make some money, at the expense of Leo.Mike is also the coach of the unsuccessful local high school wrestling team. But when Leo's grandson Kyle turns up out of the blue, it is discovered that he was a champion wrestler in Ohio. With his addition to the team things change for Mike - until Kyle's mother turns up and appears likely to ruin everything.
