Mitchell Street is the father of Jason Street, Dillon High School's star quarterback whose career is ended and whose life is threatened when he suffers a spinal cord injury on the field. Mitchell and his wife Joanne eventually sue the school and Coach Taylor, much to their son's chagrin.
