Ray 'Voodoo' Tatum is a state champion quarterback in Louisiana, who is displaced to Texas due to Hurricane Katrina. He was considered by Dillon Panther booster Buddy Garrity to be the solution at quarterback after Jason Street's injury. However, Coach Taylor kicks Voodoo off the team due him disobeying the coach's orders. He eventually lands a spot on the West Cambria High School Mustangs team, who the Dillon Panthers face in the state championship.
