Truman Burrell is the Governor of Louisiana who believes that vampires have become a threat to humans. He begins a secret campaign against them while simultaneously working to keep Tru Blood factories open, with an ulterior motive. He incites humans to arm themselves against vampires and stokes everyone's worst fears under the guise of doing what's best for the people of his state. He has the use of a new technology that proves useful in dealing with vampires. He holds a grudge against vampires for an unknown reason. He is overly protective of his daughter, Willa.
