Angie McAlister is an independent young woman who grew up in Chester's Mill and can't wait to leave. Until she can, she works the lunch shift as a waitress at Sweetbriar Rose and as a candy-striper at the local health clinic. She is in a relationship of sorts with Junior Rennie. They have known each other since grade school, but she isn't romantically interested in him. When he tells her he loves her, her reply is: Yea, it's been a fun summer. Junior shows flashes of dangerous aggression when she tries to walk out on him, grabbing her violently.Angie's father is a truck driver, a job that keeps him away from town for long stretches at a time. When the dome comes down, her mother is having brunch outside town, leaving Angie and her younger brother Joe to fend for themselves inside the dome.
