Griffiths is Detective Charlie Crews attorney. She seeks him out while he is still in prison and believes his innocence. Working tirelessly on his behalf she finally is able to get DNA testing, which was not available at the time of his trial, to prove his innocence and have him acquitted of all charges. She in turn handles Charlies subsequent lawsuit and settlement against the L.A.P.D. as well as the State of California for wrongful imprisonment. Though the exact amount of the settlement is undisclosed, she negotiates to reinstate Crews to the L.A.P.D. with full benefits and a rise in ranks to Detective. Through the long years Charlie is imprisoned she remains his staunch defender and only visitor. Their developing attachment to each other puts more then just her marriage at risk.
