Emma is a guidance counselor at McKinley High School. She is a fan of New Directions and has a major crush on its director, Will Schuester. Emma helps convince Will he should stay with the glee club when news of his wife's pregnancy has him considering a departure from the New Directions.Emma seems a typical small-town girl, naive to much of the ways of the world. Despite being in her early-30s she doesn't seem to have much in the way of life experience, particularly in the area of romance. She is a passionate about her job and cares deeply for the students she works with.Emma struggles with Obsessive-compulsive disorder. Her OCD manifests itself in the form of a crippling fear of germs. Emma's feelings for Will are a significant part of our story, and it will proves to impact both of their lives in various ways.
