Rachel is New Directions' most talented vocalist when Will takes over as director. She was captain of New Directions and helped recruit several of its members.Rachel loves the spotlight and dreams of a Barbara Streisand-like career on Broadway and in Hollywood. Her star quality occasionally puts her at odds with other members of New Directions, as she is hesitant to share the most important solos. As with many member of New Directions she comes to glee club in need of life lessons related to love and friendship.She is an unusually driven student. Rachel is a member of a ridiculously high number of extra-curricular activities and always seems to be acting in the best interest of her own career.Rachel was born in 1994, in Lima, Ohio. She was raised by her two fathers, Hiram and Leroy Berry. She was introduced as a baby, having won her first competition as an infant. Rachel does not know the identity of her birth mother. She is a vegan.
