Frannie Goldsmith, fresh out of high school is in a terrible predicament. She has just split with her long term boyfriend upon finding out that she's pregnant and her dad is soon struck down by the flu. Then so is the rest of America. When only she and her friend Harold remain, the undesirable boy who has a crush on her, they choose to travel cross country to visit the Centre for Disease Control, only to bump into Stu Redman and his friend Glenn Bateman.Frannie soon finds herself caught in a conflict of interests as Harold grows ever more jealous of her attachment to Stu and Stu finds himself conflicted over his attraction towards the considerably younger girl.
