Past middle age, Tom Cullen is a simple man challenged by great learning disability who is abandoned in Oklahoma City after his mother died. He has the mind of a child but there is something Nick Andros senses about him, when they cross paths, that is vital to a cause he does not himself understand. Tom and Nick become a heartwarming and often hilarious duo in their travels across the states and Tom is the only one to be visited in a dream by Nick while he can hear and talk!
