Ishka is the Ferengi mother of Quark and Rom who was married for a time to their father, Keldar. She is not a typical subservient Ferengi woman and in fact proves to have a better head for business and negotiation than most Ferengi men, although her engaging in either is against the law. Quark has a hard time accepting his mother's independent ways for a time. Ishka becomes a Ferengi feminist and engages in a romance with Grand Nagus Zek.
