Knut is the half-brother of Earl Haraldson, whom the Earl trusts to look after his interests, especially where they concern Ragnar Lothbrok as a threat. He initially meets with Ragnar and other warriors at Erik's home to discuss a raid to the west, although he does not end up going on it. He leers openly at Lagertha, and does not act honorably around her.
