Children's author Miranda Margulies has had at least two best-sellers: The Geometry Problem from Hell And Other Catastrophes of My Semi-life and The Algebra Hysterics. She was briefly active in a protest movement against a Fox Books Superstore on Manhattan's Upper West Side. (Competition from this store was hurting a nearby bookstore, The Shop Around the Corner, which had long been a supporter of her work.) Shortly thereafter, and well before The Shop Around the Corner closed, it was announced that Margulies would appear at a book signing at that same Fox store. She regards New York Observer columnist Frank Navasky as a nut .
