Ruby Jean Reynolds is the mother of Lafayette Reynolds who lives in a mental hospital for her struggles with mental illness. She is frequently rude and erratic. She is able to act as a medium but does not have control of her abilities, which might contribute to her mental instability. She disapproves of her son's homosexuality, and is almost flippant in her condemnation of his lifestyle, but still enjoys his visits.Her nurse Jesus Velasquez takes an interest in her son.
