Bud Dearborne is the sheriff of Renard Parish. He is openly prejudiced against vampires and objects to Sookie Stackhouse's relationship with vampire Bill Compton, although he is otherwise taciturn. Despite this, he appears to be level-headed about his job and tries to keep Andy Bellefleur from following his hunches over the evidence as he investigates a string of murders. He is annoyed by the violence around Bon Temps and frustrated that he can't seem to stop it.Background: He was good friends with the late parents of Sookie and Jason Stackhouse.
