Shelby is introduced as the love interest of George Tucker, an attorney in the bucolic Southern burg of Bluebell, Alabama. With little in common, the two don't hit it off for long, though -- and Shelby catches the eye of Dr. Brick Breeland, a medical professional who is much older than her.
