Vash is a human and an archaeologist who acquires artifacts for profit. She's a former member of the Federation Archaeology Council, but she was dismissed for profiteering. Because of this, and her other dubious business practices, she does not have a good reputation among the scientific community and is banned from several worlds. Honesty and integrity are not her strong suits.She meets captain Jean-Luc Picard aboard the romantic planet of Risa while he is on leave and they begin a dalliance. She is later caught up in one of the omnipotent being Q's shenanigans where she is forced to play the part of Maid Marian to Picard's Robin Hood.
