Blaine is a high school student and one of the most talented singers in Ohio. We first meet him as a top talent for of one of New Directions' rival choirs, the Warblers from Dalton Academy.Blaine is openly gay and has a romantic connection with Kurt from the first time the two met during the latter's visit to Dalton. The relationship will be a particularly instrumental in both of their lives as they face adversity and go through various transitions.Blaine's sexuality is part of the reason he ended up at Dalton in the first place. He had been beaten severely prior to attending a dance with another boy after coming out of the closet. Dalton's zero-tolerance policy for bullying precipitated the transfer.
