Sam transfers to McKinley High School in Season Two and becomes a member of the school's football team. Finn helps recruits him to New Directions after hearing him sing in the locker room.Sam and Finn are at odds when he first arrives, as he ends up replacing an injured Finn on the football team. Like most jocks before him, Sam struggles with the notion of joining an organization like New Directions, a move that appears as if it would be social suicide.Sam is one of the more quirky members of New Directions. He is an athlete, but has a very artistic, non-jock personality. He is something of a ham, fond of making his friends laugh by displaying his talent for impressions.
