Dave Sanderson is a police officer in Pawnee, Indiana. He is a shy, somewhat socially awkward guy who first emerges when he arrests Tom Harverford, who was suspected of trying to break into a van. Leslie stays in the police station all night to support Tom and wakes up and Dave starts to develop a crush on Leslie before eventually, clumsily, asking her out.
