Mara is the love interest of Detective Shane Vendrell, introduced in Season 3, and she eventually marries the troubled officer. Mara manages to tame Shane's wild ways -- at least in the short term -- but he is soon enough up to his old antics and sleeping with women he encounters while on duty. Nonetheless, Shane and Mara have a fairly open relationship in which he is able to tell her about much of the wrongdoings of the Strike Team without much judgment. Mara is aware of many of the group's activities but maintains Shane's trust and doesn't reveal the secrets.
