Ryder Lynn is a McKinley High School sophomore and member of school's football team. Like Finn and Sam before him, he is recruited from the football team when New Directions finds itself short of male performers.Ryder finds his way to New Directions after Finn convinces him to tryout for the school musical. Unlike many students at McKinley he is kind to Marley's mother Millie, the school's lunch lady.
